"As per the Sebi mandate to spend 0.01 per cent of the AUM (assets under management) of MFs towards spreading investor education and awareness, we have developed the portal targeting potential investors," said Executive Vice-president of DSP BlackRock Aditi Kothari.
She said that of a total population of 1.2 billion, the MF investing community stood at only around one million.
"With the demonetisation drive of the Centre, it is only natural that more and more people will be interested in making investments rather than keeping cash in hand," she told reporters here today.
With AUM under Rs 57,000 crore, DSP BlackRock had been ranked ninth among MFs in the country.
"Through this platform, DSP BlackRock is aiming to educate the around one crore investors across 200 cities by 2017," Kothari added.
