As the freshers explored the Delhi University campus with a tweak of excitement and nervousness, they set the social media abuzz with their experiences using popular hasthag "DU-Fresher".

While for the freshers it was a picture-perfect day, for the alumni it was a nostalgic moment who also took to Twitter to share their "Deja-Vu" feelings about their on-campus days.

"Deja-DU...Good luck to all those who are beginning their college journey #Missthosedays #DUFresher," a user said.

Another user, "Oh...I am in college now! #DUFresher #campusdiaries".

"Finally in college! Oops mom calling. Yes, I'm fine. I'll eat, don't worry mom I'll be safe! #DUFresher #momwillneverletmegrowup," said Sidharth.

Molly, a fresher at SRCC tweeted, "Fests, freedom and fun #DUfresher#SRCC #beginning of rest of the life".

Shaina Ahluwalia, a second year student at Lady Sri Ram college, wrote an open letter on Facebook with her words of wisdom for the freshers.

"You've officially left behind the confines of the school gates, packed the school uniform inside and you're ready to start 'the ultimate life of freedom--the college years. Exactly a year later you'll be a changed person already even if you're just a little more mature. Let go of the past, smile and get ready to begin college life. Welcome DU fresher", she said.

Selfies were also in vogue on the social media and so were selfie sticks on campus.

Students posted pictures of their ragging in new avatar with the hashtag "selfie with seniors".

"Selfie with the Vice Chancellor on Day 1 #proudDUfresher," said Kartik who posted a selfie with the VC Dinesh Singh clicked during an orientation at their college.

Restaurants and cafes in areas surrounding the North Campus such as Kamla Nagar and Patel Chest, offered special discounts to the students who tweeted their pictures chilling at the restaurants with hashtag DU fresher.
