DUSU election contestants were today warned of rejection of candidature and cancellation of nominations if they failed to adhere to the code of conduct and recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee.
The Chief Election Officer of Delhi University Students Union, Professor S B Babbar, in a statement said the contestants who are defacing public and private properties with posters, banners and writings in the city should remove and clean it within 36 hours.
"These are gross violations of the code of conduct of the DUSU elections, the Lyngdoh Committee's recommendations and National Green Tribunal's order," he said, directing the contestants to stop campaigning on vehicles in the varsity premises and adjoining areas.
The CEO said the decision was taken on complaints received by the proctor's office and DUSU election office.
"Stakeholders should immediately stop cavalcades and remove the posters and banners, and clean the defaced walls within 36 hours, failing which action will be taken - including non-acceptance of candidature, cancellation of nominations or even countermanding of election," Babbar said in the statement.
Apart from reporting violation of code of conduct and Lyngdoh recommendations, All India Students' Association(AISA) has been campaigning extensively against littering of the Delhi University campus during elections season.
