Government has ordered probes through Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) into the affairs of 146 companies of the eastern and north-eastern regions including West Bengal against whom complaints were received regarding alleged collection of funds.
This was stated by Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha in a written reply in Rajya Sabha in response to a question of collections of money by non-banking financial institutions in West Bengal.
Giving details of the funds collected by the companies being investigated by the SFIO, he said that Rose Valley Real Estate and Construction Ltd and its 18 group companies collected Rs 10,281 crore funds.
Saradha Housing Finance collected Rs 131.4 crore, Basil International Ltd and its four group companies collected Rs 2,430.73 crore and Saradha Realty India and its 13 group companies collected Rs 2,459 crore.
