A total 234 candidates have filed nomination papers in the first phase after the Election Commission updated the list today.
"We updated the figure after receiving the total number of nominations from Manika assembly constituency," an official in the Election Commission said here.
The Commission had yesterday issued a release stating a total of 222 candidates for the first phase.
It also updated the total number of filing papers yesterday alone to 181 from 168 candidates.
Scrutiny will be taken up tomorrow while the last date for withdrawal is scheduled on November 10, the release said.
The first of the five-phase polling is scheduled on November 25.
