Education is panacea to all ills confronting the present society, state Education Minister Tapang Taloh has said.
Education should fulfill its basic objectives of man-making and character building by assimilating all ideas to strengthen minds, Taloh said and called for making "the right move at the right time" for achieving success in life, Talo said after laying the foundation stone of a model college at Jemi Notko in Jia village, 8 km from Roing in Lower Dibang Valley district yesterday.
The minister quoted Swami Vivekananda as having once said that the poor cannot come for education but education should reach them.
And it is this philosophy which forms the vision document of Chief Minister Nabam Tuki-led government, he reasoned.
As a river flows through a suitable course, development flourishes in conducive atmosphere, Taloh said, and called upon the people of Lower Dibang and Dibang Valley districts to facilitate rapid growth of education which is the the pillar for all-round development, an official release quoting the minister said here today.
The state government has been making all possible efforts to make higher education available at the doorsteps and the model college is a concrete proof, he said.
The college is spread in 39.2 acre area for which an amount of Rs 2 crore was sanctioned in 2013-14 fiscal as first instalment of central assistance of the approved Rs 8 crore, which could not be released due to court case, he said.
However, step has been taken for re-budgetary support for releasing Rs 2 crore to the executing agency, he said.
