Speaking at an award ceremony for edupreneurs - people involved in education start-ups - Sidhu said education was the pivotal force around which the society revolved.
"Education is the most vital aspect which should occupy the centre stage in a person's life and it's the best gift that parents can bestow upon their children," said Sidhu.
Laying emphasis on the significance of quality education, the minister said the main purpose of education was to make people self-sufficient and confident enough to shed the fear of failure and face the challenges of life head-on.
Earlier, the minister gave away the awards to various educational institutions for rendering service in the field of education.
A coffee table book was also released on the occasion.
