: Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) is eyeing to sell around 40,000 air-conditioners over the next six to eight months under its product expansion plan, a top official of the company said on Tuesday.
Also, the company announced its expansion to Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Jaipur.
According to EESL chief general manager (Technical) S P Garnaik, the firm aims to sell 10,000 ACs in the next three months and another 40,000 in the next six to eight months, before the next summer.
In Chennai, the company has pegged to sell 20,000 super efficient ACs in the next two years, targeting domestic consumers and institutions, including government offices.
"Chennai is situated on the southeast coast of India and also falls in the tropical zone. These two factors cumulatively result in making the city's weather extremely hot and humid," he said.
"We received a lot of queries from Chennai and sensed a huge demand for our super efficient ACs. With the expansion to Chennai, consumers will have access to a more sustainable and affordable cooling option," he said.
He claimed the consumers would be able to witness savings to the tune of Rs 4,000 annually as compared to 3-star non-inverter ACs.
The super efficient ACs manufactured by Voltas would be sold through EESL's e-commerce portal (EESLmart.in).
The ACs were available at a price of Rs 41,300 (including GST and delivery charges), he said.
