Efforts to boost regional trade must: Pak industry body

Stressing that regional trade is important for both the countries, leading industry body of Pakistan said that an all-out effort must be made to boost trade with India.
Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi, VP, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, "All over the world, the traders reap the benefits of strong regional trade. Pakistan and India are natural trading partners and yet we are far from enjoying the fruits of mutual barters and shared commonalities."
Earlier, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHCCI) welcomed around 160 delegates from Pakistan, who has come here to participate in the 5-day state event "PHD-Punjab International Trade Expo", said R S Sachdeva, Co-Chairman, Punjab Committee, PHCCI.
Reciprocating the concerns of his counterpart from Pakistan, Sachdeva said, "We look forward for the situation to be better. There can be no substitute to mutual peace and harmony for growth and development."
More than 300 delegates from Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jhelum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry are expected to cross over to Amritsar over the next two days, he added.
Informing that these Chambers of Commerce and Industry shall have one to one interactions with various industry associations of Punjab for furthering the common cause of bilateral business, Sachdeva said that PHD Chamber has a firm belief that the sound bilateral trade is most promising factor and the most important solution to the disturbed scenario between both the countries.
"Being a part of the integrated approach towards better trade ties, such interactions play the role of a catalyst", said Sachdeva while referring to the recent interactions.
