Egypt has announced seven days of mourning after 21 of its Christian citizens were reportedly beheaded by Islamic State militants in Libya.
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi yesterday sent his condolences and announced seven days of mourning for the deceased citizens, according Egyptian TV.
The President has called an urgent meeting of the National Defence Council, country's top security body, after IS jihadists released a video purportedly showing the beheading of Egyptian Christians who were held hostage in Libya a month ago.
The Egyptian government had previously adviced its citizens not to travel to Libya, however, thousands of its nationals travelled to the neighbouring country in northern Africa in search of jobs.
