Eight arrested for gambling

Eight persons, including a Sarpanch (village head) affiliated to ruling National Conference, have been arrested after they were found gambling and drinking in public place in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police conducted a raid at Poochal on the outskirts of Kishtwar town last evening and arrested Sarpanch Jatinder Kumar and seven others, including two teachers, under the Gambling Act, police said.
Rs 8,920 in cash and two sets of playcards were also recovered from them.
All the eight were today granted bail.
