The victims were travelling from Alirajpur to purchase livestock in Nalkheda of Ujjain when the mishap took place, Ghatia Police Station in-charge, Jairam Chavahan said.
The deceased were tribals and in the age bracket of 30-60 years, he said.
They were identified as -- Dokam Singh, Sur Singh, Sunil, Kamal, Juwan Singh, Amar Singh, Veeran Lia and Jeevan Singh.
Among the injured, 14 are undergoing treatment in Ujjain, while the remaining were referred to Indore, Chavahan said.
Meanwhile, Ujjain Collector Sanket Bhondwe has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to families of the deceased, Rs 50,000 to those critically injured and Rs 25,000 to those who suffered minor injuries, after the recommendation of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
