Eight sandalwood idols of Lord Ganesh seized from house

Eight sandalwood idols of Lord Ganesha were today seized by forest department officials from a house at Muttathara here and one person was arrested in this connection.
Forest flying squad Range officer Jayakumar said Nakulan (45) who was apprehended during the raid, used to illegally carve the medium-sized idols meant for sale.
Some pieces of sandalwood have also been seized, he said.
The artisan used to get orders from Chennai, Jayakumar said.
The exact value of the seized idols was yet to be ascertained, he added.
