A 60-year-old man allegedly tried to commit suicide outside the Maharashtra secretariat allegedly for not getting a job in the state security corporation, police said today.
Gautam Chavan went to the garden gate of the Mantralaya building in south Mumbai at around 2.15 pm and consumed mosquito and rat poison.
The police present at the spot rushed him to the nearby St George Hospital where his condition is said to be stable.
Chavan took the extreme step for not getting a job as a guard in the state security corporation, they said.
A case of attempt to suicide has been registered against him at Marine Drive Police Station, the police said.
