Election officials seize over 1.26 cr from van

Election officials today seized over Rs 1.26 crore from a van hired by a branch of a nationalised bank, 15 km from here, police today said.
Officials checked the van and found the amount in an iron trunk.
Security personnel inside the van said they were transporting the money to the Bank's ATM but had documents only for Rs 26.50 lakh.
They could not produce documents for Rs one crore, police said, adding, the money was seized and handed over to the Income Tax department.
