Electrification work of Rohtak-Bathinda section inaugurated

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today inaugurated the commencement of electrification of Rohtak- Bathinda-Lehra Mohabbat Rail line costing Rs 294 crore at the railway station here in Haryana.
The railway ministry and Haryana government has also signed an agreement to set up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for setting up of the proposed rail coach factory in Sonipat, Prabhu said while inaugurating the commencement of electrification of the line.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was also present on the occasion.
On the issue of setting up of the rail coach factory raised by Khattar, the Union minister said the factory would be set up on Public-Private-Partnership mode.
Prabhu gave directions to the railway officials on the demand raised by the chief minister to either make underground passage for the railway line track passing through Rohtak city or make passage over the bridge on the pattern of Metro through pillars.
He also assured to meet the demand of modernisation of Rohtak railway station and to start train between Bhiwani and Haridwar.
"Railway station in Gurgaon is also being modernised with the help of CSR," he added.
For the smooth work-flow on the railway projects in Haryana, discussions would be held every month between senior officials of the railway and state government.
Prabhu said that in the near future, Rs 8.5 lakh crore of investment would be made on railways as in past not much investment was made on railways resultantly, rail and railway network instead of strengthening has weakened.
He said that in the next five years, target of electrification of 2,000 km of railway lines every year has been fixed which so far is the highest target.
It is the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that railway ministry works hand-in-hand with state governments on railway projects, he said.
