trampled to death by an elephant at Dasapalayam in the district, police said.
The man had gone to answer nature's call around 5.30 AM in a bushy area when the elephant attacked him.
Police and forest department officials have recovered the body.
Villagers in and around the area, coming under Mettupalayam range, were living in fear for the last six months, as a herd of elephants visit frequently and destroy their crops, police said.
