Elephant tusks seized, four persons arrested

Elephant tusks valued at Rs 1.80 lakh was today found in the possession of four men in a Siliguri-bound bus coming from South Dinajpur district.
The tusks weighing 938 gm was seized and the four persons were arrested, DFO, Baikunthapur forest division, P R Pradhan said.
On a tip off, forest department personnel stopped a bus coming from South Dinajpur district at Jalpai More at Siliguri today and found a bag with four tusks during search operation, he said.
The four persons said they were planning to sell the tusks to a man in Siliguri.
Elephant tusks are used for obtaining ivory.
