Police said a gang armed with deadly weapons was arrested at Poovanthi in Sivaganga district while on a vehicle checking. The gang members, five of them from Madurai and one from Manamadurai, were already involved in several cases of dacoity and robbery and were enroute to murder some one for the money they had collected as "Coolie".
Another gang of five members were arrested near Kariappatti when they went to search of one Lakshmanan to murder him at a quarry at Pudupatti.
