The channel, formerly known as NE TV, was launched in March 2004 and it officially closed down last week, EMFA President Nava Thakuria said in a statement here.
The channel was identified as the first satellite news channel of North East India beaming bulletins in over 16 recognized languages and also dialects for the benefit of 50 million population of the region.
In another development, the EMFA also condemned the incident of assault of a city based scribe on May 22 last.
The EMFA reiterated its demand for a special law to protect mediapersons on duty across the country.
