According to a release issued by the MP government, encroachments along the Khan river are being cleared, under the first phase of the project.
A seven kilometre area along the side of river has been cleared of encroachments the release stated, adding that 6,000 encroachments had sprung up near the water body.
Encroachers will be rehabilitated, the release stated.
Incidentally, in February, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had expressed its concern about the tardy pace of river cleaning and asked for a a monthly plan to the charted out in ordee to hasten the process.
