The victim, identified as a third year student of Computer Science, committed suicide yesterday by jumping in front of a running train, while another student, of mechanical engineering branch attempted suicide by jumping from the building in the wee hours, police said.
The suicide note recovered from the victim said that he had committed suicide "out of depression" but he did not mention the cause of depression, Deputy SP Chakrapani Tripathi said.
The other student's condition is not stable and he will interrogated later, he said.
Meanwhile, in another incident today in the same campus, some students of the college along with other outsiders allegedly went on a rampage inside the college, police said, adding, adequate force has been posted at the college and the situation is now under control.
Meanwhile, the college's registrar Bhagwan Singh claimed that "heavy damage" has been inflicted on the college building.
He further claimed that yesterday "over 200 students were prohibited from sitting for the home examinations as their attendance was less as per the rules and so they created the ruckus".
