Engineering student attempts suicide

Denied permission to write examination due to attendance shortage, an engineering student today allegedly tried to kill himself in Kasna area here.
Shubam, a second year student of mechanical engineering consumed some poisonous substance and was rushed to a hospital, police said.
Students and some people affiliated with political parties held protest at college gate.
As per University norms minimum 75 per cent attendance is a must to sit in exams.
Meanwhile, Director of the college said some students were barred from examination for short attendance as per university rules.
