"Following a tip off, we laid a trap and caught Executive Engineer Bipin Bihari Singh and Superintending Engineer Shailesh Kumar Sinha red handed while accepting bribe of Rs one lakh and Rs 2.70 lakh in cash respectively," Prasad told PTI.
While one of the engineers pocketed the money for allotting the contractor Sunil Kumar Choudhury a contract in the department, the other one received the cash as an assurance that he would get a contract.
The SP said vigilance department sleuths conducted search operation in the residences and offices of the two engineers and seized Rs six lakh in cash.
