The Mumbai Press Club has extended till April 28 the last date for submitting entries for its prestigious 'National Press Club Awards for Excellence in Journalism - 2013'.
Entries in the form of published articles, video stories and photographs have been invited from Indian Journalists in various categories including Sports, Entertainment, Crime, Environment & Health, Politics, and Business and Finance, a release said here.
The new categories that have been added this year are Science and Technology, the television story of the year and The Big Picture (the picture story of the year).
Winners and runners up in each category will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 75,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively, a trophy and a citation on May 25 at NCPA's Tata Theatre here.
A distinguished panel of relevant judges in each category will decide the winners. There will also be a 'Lifetime Achievement Award', selected by a special jury from amongst a shortlist drawn up by the Press Club.
Each applicant will be allowed a maximum of three entries across all categories. Entries should be authenticated (supported/recommended) by Editors/Media Heads of respective media platforms. Entries not in English will be accepted if accompanied by an English translation. Winners will be provided travel and accommodation for the Awards Ceremony.
Entries must be mailed latest by April 28 at manager@pressclubmumbai.Com. Photo/Video entries need to also be on DVD format. Those entering their published articles would need to send in hard copies.
In the third year now, the Journalism Awards have been instituted to promote best practices among journalists and encourage good quality writing, fair play and high ethical standards, the release said.
Meanwhile, the Press Club has re-branded the awards as "RedInk Awards" reflecting the dramatic changes in media over the years and growing stature of the Club's endeavours.
The new RedInk awards would continue to uphold and celebrate the highest ideals of journalism, the release added.
