The actor and his wife Ryan Shawhughes said Maya, 17, Ethan's daughter with ex-wife Uma Thurman will follow her parents into acting.
"That's definitely a possibility, she's a talented girl," Shawhughes said.
Hawke added, "I'll go along with that yeah. When they're little you have this idea that you can control them. You can't."
The "Boyhood" star, 45, also revealed that he is careful about what roles he takes on to ensure that he doesn't spend too much time away from his family.
"These days you have to do a lot of movies to make a living, they pay you less for each other. The upside is that to keep the pay down, they make the shoots shorter. My deal is I can go on location with the kids when they're on school break or I fly home every weekend.
