Former BSP MLA from Sahibabad, Amar Pal Sharma has been booked for allegedly making extortion calls to a builder and demanding Rs 10 lakh.
Three other persons have also been booked in the case, the police said.
Senior Superintendent of police Vaibhav Krishna said that the case was lodged against Sharma on the complaint of Veer Pal Chaudhary.
Sharma is at present lodged in Dasna jail in the Gajendra Bhati murder case.
The complainant alleged that Sharma, who had come to the court for a hearing yesterday, made the extortion call to the victim.
The SSP Krishna added that the police has registered an FIR under relevant sections of IPC and were waiting for call details of a mobile number used for making the extortion call to Chaudhary.
