Ex Obama aide joins American think tank

Indian-American Anish Goel, a former aide of US President Barack Obama, has joined an eminent think-tank here as its senior South Asia fellow.
Goel currently serves as the director of Geopolitical Affairs for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, where he leads geopolitical analysis, identifying emerging threats and opportunities, and their potential impact to the firm's business.
As a Senior Fellow for South Asia, Goel will write on US foreign policy in South Asia, regional dynamics, and their implications for US national security, the New America Foundation said in a statement.
Goel served for three years in the White House's National Security Council as Senior Director for South Asia. This made him the senior-most advisor on South Asia to Obama.

In this position, he played a key role in shaping the India policy of the Obama Administration in its first term. He was man behind the highly successful State Visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the US in November 2009 and that of Obama to India a year later in November 2010.
