Ex-policeman on the run for 18 yrs, surrenders in court

A former police constable, who was on the run for 18 years, surrendered before a court here in a 1999 murder case.
The District and Sessions Judge Gokulesh rejected his bail plea moved after his surrender yesterday, saying it cannot be granted as he was involved in a heinous crime.
The prosecution said the accused, Jogender Yadav, and his other associates shot dead a jeweller and looted his cash on August 25, 1999.
The police had filed a case against several people and as the former constable was absconding, his case was separated from others.
The trial of the other accused has already concluded.
