Ex-Prez launches higher education rating sys, JGU bags diamond rating

Indian education system cannot live in isolation and has to communicate with the globalised world, former President Pranab Mukherjee has said.
Speaking at an event here, he emphasised on the importance of globally-bench marked quality assurance systems, saying "it does not create excellence but it recognises, identifies and introduces existing talent to the world and to the larger society, and that brings huge consequential benefits. But you shall have to keep in mind that quality is of primary importance in education."
Expressing gratitude for receiving the diamond rating by the newly launched system, founding vice chancellor C Raj Kumar of JGU, which recently got autonomous status by UGC, said, The autonomous status by the UGC and QS Diamond Rating are remarkable milestones, which will expedite our endeavour to underline India's exemplary contribution to the global higher education and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow."
