Excise Dept constable suspended after scuffle with his senior

An Excise Department constable was suspended after he allegedly had a scuffle with his senior, an official said here on Thursday.

After investigating the case, the additional district magistrate (finance and revenue) stated in the report that Constable Sandeep Kumar had disobeyed orders of Inspector Suresh Kumar after which the scuffle took place, DM Ajay Shankar Pandey said.

An inquiry has also been initiated against the inspector.

The DM said after the incident, the constable "mounted pressure on the inspector to not to pursue the case".

The excise commissioner has suspended the constable with immediate effect," the DM said, adding that the probe report had revealed that the "mental condition of the constable was not good".

Instructions have been issued for his check-up by the chief medical officer, the DM said.
