Eyes on polls, Delhi BJP launches helpline for DU aspirants

In an attempt to connect with the youth ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls, the city unit of BJP today launched a helpline to assist students seeking admission in DU-affiliated colleges.
A student wanting any information regarding admission to the DU colleges can call at the helpline number (011-30802888) and seek the requisite information related to admissions, doubts and clarifications, Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said.
"The BJP has taken these initiatives to connect with the youth. Such initiatives would go a long way in bringing the youngsters closer to our party. I strongly believe that unless we share the dreams and aspirations of young people, we cannot connect with them. That is why the Delhi BJP has taken several initiatives on this front and we would continue to come up with more such innovative initiatives," Goel said.

The party had recently launched the admission information booklet for the Delhi University and would be distributing them through 'Janata Adalats' held twice a week by BJP councillors.
Goel attacked the Delhi government for not opening more colleges in the national capital.
"More than 1,80,000 students pass Class XII exams from Delhi schools and most of them apply for admission to DU colleges. Around another one lakh students apply for the same from other states. Despite growing number of aspirants for admission in the DU colleges, the Delhi government has not opened even a single college during last 15 years," he said.

"All 28 colleges in the DU were opened by BJP. The result of this state of inertia of the Congress government is that today more than 2.5 lakh students are competing for 54,000 seats in undergraduate courses in Delhi University," he added.
The BJP leader said that his party was for opening new colleges, besides providing other facilities to students.
