Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has appreciated the garbage treatment technology used in Goa and wants to replicate it in his state.
Fadnavis along with his Goa counterpart Manohar Parrikar visited a garbage processing plant run by Hindustan Waste Treatment Private Limited (HWTPL) at Saligao in North Goa on Saturday.
"The chief minister of Maharashtra was impressed by the technology used at this plant to treat the garbage and generate electricity without harming the environment. The entire process is scientific," BJP's Goa unit spokesman Michael Lobo told PTI today.
The plant, commissioned in Saligao last year, processes the garbage collected from various beaches in North Goa.
"Fadnavis also held a discussion with the officials of HWTPL to understand the technology and expressed his willingness to have similar facilities in his state which is also facing a severe garbage problem," said Lobo, who accompanied the two CMs during their visit to the plant.
Fadnavis later took to twitter to appreciate the technology used by the company to provide a solution for better garbage disposal.
"It was interesting to visit and know about the Hindustan Waste Treatment Private Limited plant at Saligao, Goa with CM Manohar Parrikar ji," he tweeted.
"This plant processes 120-180 tonnes of garbage everyday, which is recycled in a scientific way and provides compost and electricity too," Fadnavis said in another tweet.
