Patna police today busted a gang involved in fleecing money from unemployed youths in the name of providing jobs in the Army and arrested five persons in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Patna police on direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj disguised themselves as candidates to the gang.
Following an information about gathering of the gang members along with its kingpin Munna Singh, the police team in plain clothes gathered around Shivala More under Shahpur police station and nabbed the five who had assembled there, a statement from SSP office said.
During interrogation, Munna Singh told police that he was in this illegal work since 2004.
A case was lodged against him in Chapra in 2004 for duping youths in the name of providing job in army, the statement said.
Colonel Vikram Singh Godhara of Muzaffarpur army recruitment board had lodged a case against the gang with Kazi muhammadpur police station of Muzaffarpur on March 3 last year for threatening him of kidnapping and murder for failing to cooperate them.
One member of the gang was in Army attire when caught and during interrogation it came to light that he was faking himself as armyman to dupe gullible youths.
The gang members revealed that they had taken money from a few youths for recruitment in police in neighbouring West Bengal as well on post of driver in Bihar police to be held in near future, the statement said.
