The members were active since the past four years and were functioning in Lucknow and adjoining districts in "connivance" with employees of different schools and colleges. They were nabbed from Mahanagar area, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amit Pathak said.
They used to charge hefty sums for providing fake marksheets and degrees, the SSP said, adding the gang was also providing fake transfer certificates and character certificates.
Pathak said the investigations were on into the alleged involvement of some educational institutions and board employees in this fraud.
