The 29-year-old 'Tightrope' singer surprised 10-year-old McKynzie Duhon, who has posted videos of herself performing Monae's songs online, during a segment filmed for Latifah's show - but the star got more from the get-together than her protege, reported Ace Showbiz.
Look-alike McKynzie was left speechless when her idol walked in on her while she was performing along to a video backstage before the show, but as she explained what the singer meant to her, Monae fought back tears - and then she broke down as her mini-me's mum thanked the diva for being her daughter's role model.
"The fact that you see something in me... I just want you to know that you don't have to be perfect. Perfection is often the enemy of greatness. You are enough... You can be bigger than me. I don't take it for granted and I hope that I continue to make you proud," Monae added.
