On the directions of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal has written to the Deputy Commissioners over the issue, a spokesperson said.
The Deputy Commissioners have been instructed that in case of a farmer's suicide, they should immediately determine whether the family members are eligible for compensation.
If found eligible, disbursement of compensation would be ensured on the same day. The Deputy Commissioner would take ex-facto approval from competent authority for the same later on, the spokesperson added.
