Farmers elated over compensation under new land acquisition

Farmers in Bundi district are delighted over payment of compensation for their land acquired by the government for the construction of a natonal highway according to the new land acquisition law.
The payment, which is four times more than what it used to be in the past, was made possible when the farmers concerned uploaded their complaints on the Narendra Modi mobile application and the solution came the next month.
National Highway 148-D is the first highway in the state where farmers have been compensated according to the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013 for the land acquired, ADM (Sealing) Mamta Tiwari told PTI.

Most of the farmers whose land was acquired for NH 148D have been compensated, Tiwari said.
About 216 hectaresof land in Bundi district was acquired for the 20-km-long national highway from Gulabpura to Uniyara in Tonk district. Of the total compensation of Rs 29.31 crore, Rs 19 crore has been been given to farmers, the ADM added.
Compensation according to the new land acquisition law was certainly three to four times more than what it used to be in the past, she said, adding it varies in the urban and rural areas.

It was Dixant Soni of Jajawar village in Bundi who had in August 2016 complained through the Narendra Modi mobile application regarding non receipt and low calculation of compensation for the land acquired.

The farmers were not happy with the government's calculation of compensation according to the previous land acquisition law, he said.
He uploaded a complaint along with the copies of required documents on the application, and other farmers followed suit.
"I received a positive response on compensation from the PMO on September 20, 2016," Soni said.
The state government, after receiving directions from the PMO, started doling out compensation from February 2, 2017, he said.
It was the Narendra Modi mobile application that helped farmers get better compensation under the new law, said Nitesh Khatod, the husband of Meenu Khatod, sarpanch of the Hindoli Panchyat Samiti.

Under the new land acquisition Act, compensation for the land acquired has been tripled in rural areas and increased by four times in urban areas, told Vinod Kumar Jain, deputy sarpanch of Jajawar gram panchayat.
