An 11-year-old Chinese girl was beaten to death by her father for copying her classmate's homework, media reports said today.
The father, surnamed Zhang, ordered the girl to kneel down, tied her hands and beat her at about 8:30 pm on Monday when he discovered she had copied her classmate's homework multiple times, police was quoted as saying by the state-run Xinhua news agency.
The girl was taken to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries at 2:30 pm yesterday.
Physical punishing children is common in China, especially in rural areas where parents pin high hopes on their children's academic achievements.
