An exciting contest is on the cards as FC Goa would look to turn things around against Atletico de Kolkata in the return leg match of the second semifinal of the Hero Indian Super League football tournament here tomorrow.
The first leg match in Kolkata ended in a 0-0 stalemate with FC Goa failing to get the better of injury-hit ATK after having better share of exchanges and scoring chances. The Zico-coached side would now look to deliver the final blow against Kolkata in front of the home crowds at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Fatorda tomorrow.
The early loss of left back Narayan Das due to knee injury has affected FC Goa's rhythm in the midfield against ATK in the first leg as Haroon Amiri had to fall back in the defence from the midfield.
FC Goa created chances but striker Miroslav Slepicka and Romeo Fernandes did not look sharp enough to cash in on the opportunities that came their way.
Slepicka and Andre Santos, who have scored nine goals between them, will be the key players for the home team's success. On the flanks, Mandar Rao Dessai and Romeo Fernandes have been consistent and they, along with Andre Santos, will keep the attack going.
With Narayan Das unlikely to play tomorrow, Zico may field Bruno Pinheiro in his place after returning from one match suspension and play Peter Carvalho in the midfield in Amiri place. This will strengthen the defence against the likes of Fikru Teferra and Jofre Mateu who are likely to be back in the ATK side after injury.
Plagued with injuries, Atletico de Kolkata lacked sharpness in their attack in the absence of Fikru in the first leg of the semifinals. Their defence will, however, be strengthened by the return of Arnab Mondal from injury.
For the home team though, it will be full strength with the exception of Narayan Das.
