A Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Inspector was today caught while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a person to issue a licence, Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) said.
Jayant V Yadav is attached to the office of FDA Assistant Commissioner at Pen in adjoining Raigad district.
The 52-year-old Inspector had made a demand of Rs 20,000 from the person for issuing a licence for opening medical shop, Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB-Raigad) Sunil Kalgutkar said.
The aggrieved man registered a complaint online with ACB, which laid a trap and caught the Inspector accepting the first instalment of Rs 15,000, he said.
Yadav has been arrested and booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, ACB added.
