The meeting took place on the invitation of the Governor at Raj Bhavan here.
Padel, who is serving as a visiting professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi shared his knowledge of the problems faced by tribals in India and discussed the measures required for the redressal of these problems.
Padel has authored much-acclaimed books such as 'Sacrificing People: Invasions of a Tribal Landscape' and 'Out of This Earth: East India Adivasis and Aluminium Cartel'.
Schedule V of the Constitution of India has given special responsibility to the Governor in respect of administration in the Scheduled Areas. A tribal cell has been set up in Raj Bhavan in 2012 to function as a place for research, advocacy and review, the spokesperson added.
