CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat today demanded that murder cases be filed against BCCL and central government for the death of a man and son in subsidence at Jharia in May.
Karat demanded this at Indira Chawk in Jharia where Babloo Khan and his son Rahim died in subsidence that occurred in front of their shop on May 24.
The CPI(M) leader also met the victims' family members and assured them to help them in getting compensation from BCCL (Bharat Coking Coal Limited), owner of the coal mines there.
Karat said her party would hold a dharna in Delhi to draw attention of central government about plight of people living in danger zone and those who have been displaced.
She said a delegation of her party would meet Coal Minister Piyush Goel and make him aware about the plight of Jharia people.
"I had fought for Jharia people in 2006, '07 and '08 at Delhi and again launch agitation for them," she said.
Karat also visited underground fire affected Fularitand residential area, RSP College Jharia and Belgaria township created for displaced families of Jharia mines fire.
She was here to attend the party's two-day state conference scheduled to begin from Sunday.
