A fire broke out Monday afternoon at the kitchen of a sweetmeat shop near Jadubabu's Bazaar in south Kolkata, an official said.
No one was injured in the incident, the fire brigade official said.
Three fire tenders have been pressed into service to douse the flames, he told reporters.
"The fire had erupted at 3.20 am in the kitchen of a sweet shop on the third floor of the multi-storey building. The shop is located on the first floor," the official said, adding that the blaze has been brought under control.
The incident comes a day after a massive fire broke out at Bagree Market, in the central part of the city. The market blaze, which has been raging for over 36 hours, is yet to be contained.
