A major fire broke out in a textile shop here, police said today.
No one was injured as the fire started at around 10.45 pm yesterday after the shop was closed, they said.
Noticing the smoke, watchmen and members of the public alerted the fire service and police.
The entire four-storeyed building was engulfed in flames, which were put out by around 4 am today,police said.
The cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.
A case was registered based on a complaint from a representative of the shop, police said.
The value of the property damaged would be known only after an investigation.
