Fire damages Duncans Industries' Kolkata office

Duncans Industries Ltd today said the company's statutory documents, records and computers have been extensively damaged due to a massive fire that broke out at its corporate office in Kolkata recently.
The records, files, statutory documents, computer systems of some other group companies were also damaged in the fire.
"A massive fire broke out early morning on September 6 at the registered/corporate office of the company at Duncan House, 31 Netaji Subhas Road, Kolkata...The fire coupled with water used in the process of fire fighting has caused extensive damage to the record, files, statutory documents, computer systems/server in the office," the company said in a filing to the BSE.
'Duncan House' is the registered office of various other group firms and the records, files, statutory documents, computer systems of those companies were also extensively damaged. Efforts are being made to reconstruct the office and retrieval of the records at the earliest, it added.
The Duncan Goenka Group has a diversified product portfolio of tea, FMCG, engineering, paper, synthetic fibres, chemicals and polymers.
Duncans Industries Ltd is into tea plantations. Its 14 tea estates are spread across 8,000 hectares in Dooars, Terai and Darjeeling regions of North Bengal, producing nearly 14 million kgs of tea every year.
