Fire engulfs building on Elliot Road

A fire broke out at a building in the city's Elliot Road area this afternoon, police said.

Five fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire that broke out at around 3.40 pm, they said.

"The reason of the fire is yet to be ascertained. We have evacuated a few people who were inside the building," an officer of the Fire Department said.

There were no casualties so far, he said adding that a team of Kolkata Police Disaster Management was also present there.
