The film is based on historian Gyan Prakash's book 'Mumbai Fables'. Set in Bombay of the 1960s, the movie tells the story of a street fighter, Johnny Balraj, and an aspiring jazz singer, Rosie, played by Anushka Sharma.
"Welcome Johnny Balraj! Our first poster #BombayVelvet @foxstarhindi @FuhSePhantom," Anushka posted on twitter along side the poster.
A teaser of the film's first-look was released on January 28, which saw Ranbir, 32, in a fighting cage.
Filmmaker Karan Johar is set to make his acting debut with 'Bombay Velvet', which is slated to hit theatres on May 15.
