Fishermen observe fast

About 400 fishermen today observed a fast demanding among other things release of their counterparts arrested by Sri Lankan navy and their boats.
The protest was orgasised by Rameswaram Fishermen Association at Thangachimadam.
Addressing the fishermen, CPI leader D Raja urged the Centre to take necessary steps to prevent the frequent arrests of fishermen by the Sri Lankan navy.
Action should be taken to bring back the 87 fisheremen under custody in Sri Lanka and their 42 boats, he said.
