Five killed, eight injured in mishap

Five members of a family, including two women, were killed and eight others injured when their van collided with a stationary vehicle near here today, police said.
Occupants of the van were on their way here from Chennai when the mishap occurred at Manapatti, 40 km from here early this morning.
Three men and a woman died on the spot while another woman succumbed to injuries at the Government hospital at Melur.The injured had been admited to the government hospitals at Melur and Madurai, police said.
